If you color in RGB, use the version found here: [link]

Here's a little time saver for coloring lineart. This is an action I made for Photoshop a couple of years ago after ~albonia suggested it to me. It will set up inked lineart for CMYK coloring in layers with a 240% black.

Top layer will be yer lineart layer with C: 60 M: 40: Y: 40 K: 100 set to multiply (some people use darken instead of multiply)

Second layer will be yer traps layer with C: 60 M: 40: Y: 40 K: 0

Simply download into Photoshop> Presets> Photoshop Actions

Now open yer inked lineart in PS, do your level/contrast adjustments if needed, open your actions window (alt + f9), load the Lineart action, then press the little play button.

Simply color on any layer under the trap layer.

Made this in CS2, but it should work for older versions of Photoshop. Not guaranteeing that it will though =P

Seen a few of these around, but yours is by far the best yet. This is going to be a great asset. I will definitely be passing this on to our colorists at Z2H.

I never thought to make an action out of this. You're so smart :D Thanks!

I do color commissions! Send me a note or email!

Hope he finds it useful. Anything that will knock a few minutes off a page is always a plus.

Haha, I'm not smart. Someone else recommended that I do it, and I was all "ooooh" like someone had just dangled some new shiny in front of me.
:iconurban-barbarian:
Cool. Would it work for RGB if you changed the "mode" afterwards?

If you try to change from CMYK to RGB after doing this, the ink values in the lineart and trap do a slight adjustment. So you don't end up with a 240 black. I do have an RGB version though. I'll upload it for ya.

That would be awesome. I know virtually nothing about trapping. I've never had a problem with printing but I should probably learn the right way to do things! I've never used Actions before but yours was amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.

Anything that can help cut a few corners is a good thing. Glad they worked for ya.

Indeed!
