Unless you represent a publisher/company I'm currently working with/scheduled to work with, represent one of the big publishers, a close friend, someone I usually collaborate with, or someone that's going to pay me mountains of cash, I'm simply not available for new projects. Sorry if that sounds like I'm an elitist (add yer own really colorful noun here). I'm just too busy with other gigs to take on more books without risking deadlines. I do appreciate the notes expressing the interest in my work, but at this time I simply can't do it.

I got a small bit of a problem...

Ever since I did that issue of SWP for Ben and Jeff, it seems that my colors have been stuck in bright, candy coated, supersaturated mode. I can't seem to get back into dreary/moody mode. A lot of the problem is just a complete lack of comics on hand to reference. And I really feel that I need to get back into a dreary/moody style for these Zenescope projects since the stuff I've been working has been mostly pyschological thrillers/horrors more than anything else.

Recommend me some comics with some nice moody colors to try and find. Recommend me some painters to check out, either at a library or even some of the talent here on DA. If a movie like Saw, Silent Hill, Descent, Feast, 28 Days Later, or even the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre was ever made into a comic, what comics or painter should the colorist try to emulate? I have screen caps galore from movies, but my biggest problem there is that I find myself using the same high saturation levels as the screen caps and it just looks really bad on a comic page.

Started taking Zyrtec for my allergies recently. Makes me jittery as hell. Think it's screwing with my sleep too. I've been getting about 4-5 hours sleep each night before popping up wide awake. Then after a few days of short sleep, my mind just shuts down on me and I crash hard. Happened about a week or so ago and couldn't figure out what it was. Happened again last night. Crashed at like 5pm with no warning, and just woke up about 30 min ago.

The first couple of times it happened, I thought it was just me being mentally exhausted from stressing myself out over deadlines. When it happened this time, I started looking back at my sleeping habits. Definitely think it's the Zyrtec though since it all falls in the same time frame. Not gonna stop taking it though. I like being able to breathe!

Superworld Presents Special: City Limits is available for purchase now. Just click the ole button and hit the "Store" link.

The more ya buy, the more Ben pays me!

:iconrantz: and I have a limited number of sketchbooks left from the show. If you still want one, just get a hold of Rantz via the contact info on his DA page, or even with a note and he'll hook you up. They come with a free sketch, and more than likely he might even cut you a deal if you wanna snag the sketchbook and all 4 of our prints.

Info on the sketchbook and print collabs is in the shoutboard.

Zyrtec is nasty stuff.

Anything with colour, and I'll probably point you in the direction of *RalphHorsley. The man is a genius with colours. Maybe focus on black/white then adding colour after adding value? In that case I'd suggest ~shalpin and `athenatt; two of the better pencil artists I've come across on dA.

Why not just live with the fact that your new favorite colour is hot pink and go with it?

As for a recommendation... spawn is pretty dark but i can think about any current comics like that
The problem with the black and white route is that it takes too long. You end up having to do so much tweaking after you add the colors that it's just faster to actually color. For example, the closer you get to black, the more saturated the colors end up being when you throw a color layer on top of it. And since those are your shadow areas, you don't really want them highly saturated. So you end up having to go in and keep adjusting it. I was using that method at one point, but the tweaks were just way too time consuming.

Zyrtec works really good, but man...those side effects are killer. I lost pretty much an entire day of work yesterday because of it.
I'm an 80's kid. Yer taunts of hot pink don't scare me. My retinas have developed a natural immunity to day glow colors.
Hey man check out :iconaxl99: :iconboatwright: :iconmonkeyseed: :iconsideshowmonkey: :iconsally-avernier: :icontargete: :icontentopet: maybe some of those you haven't seen before and they might help.

Other than that not sure what to tell ya man, I am working in bubble gum colors galore right now!!!

Hope the sleep thing gets better too.

lol, I was already watching most of those cats. I love Jessie's style, especially with what he's doin for Red 5. Have you ever read 68 (Vietnam war/zombies)? That's the kinda mood that I'd like to achieve. I'd use it for ref, but it's all pretty much done in a green/outdoor palette, so it doesn't help me a lot on interiors =D

I feel sorry for ya with the bubble gum palettes. They're fun, but I'm having an awful hard time breaking away from em.
