So I'm about to head to bed last night and I get an email from my editor at Red5 asking me if I can get the cover to Drone #2 colored for him so he can send the stuff to Diamond for review. So I put on a pot of coffee, and settle in for a late night at the comp. A couple of hours later I finish it up and send it off.
Wake up today extremely late (go fig), and half my work day is already shot which means I'll need to pull another late nighter. And of course that means my sleep schedule will be screwed for tomorrow and I'll have to do one more late nighter. Ugh.
But, the book is almost in the can. Editor sent out lettered proofs of the colored pages for issue 1 and 2 (all the pages I'd uploaded at least). Really happy with how issue 2 has turned out colorwise. Issue 1...not so much.
There's a pretty noticeable difference in the colors (even though I colored both of em). There's a couple of factors that played into that. One of em is I changed monitors, which made a huge difference in my contrast. The other one is simply the time frame between issue 1 and 2. There was literally 3-4 months between the issues. So even though I tried to match the palette/style of the first issue, I couldn't do it. I'd forgotten how I'd colored a lot of things in that first issue (what colors did I use for screen tones, what textures was I using, etc). Plus there's just that gradual natural improvement from working on other stuff in that time frame.
Scott said they're gonna be showing some of the stuff from the book at SDCC, and I really hope he uses the stuff from the 2nd issue

He also said that the series will probably be solicited in Nov/Dec. So it's still gonna be a while before it's ever out on the stands.
As soon as I finish up this issue of Drone, I'm coloring a story for Heavy Metal. Then on to the last 2 issues of Drone. After that, who knows.
Webcam whores make me laugh. I understand there's a market for em, especially with the lonely perverts lurking on the internet (myself included of course). But man, I hate getting spammed by em. I stopped using most social networking sites simply because I got tired of getting spammed with "Webcam Whore X wants to be your friend" messages all the damned time.
But now they're even spamming me on Twitter.
Twitter? Seriously?
How is there even a market for webcam whores on Twitter? At least on Myspace and Facebook, they'd have a page of raunch with links to their webcam whore brothel. But Twitter? You check to see who just added you and all you see is one single update with 140 characters of them telling you how much of a slut they are. And you don't even get a picture to rank their sluttiness.
Silly webcam whores...
Flatter for hireOne of my flatters is looking for more work, so if any of you pro colorists need a good, fast flatter, just go give her a buzz. You can contact her through the GZ boards on her flatter for hire thread here:

*sends crapy myspace photos of myself to you*
But seriously that is so awesome that I'm jealous. I read Heavy Metal every month.
I always dug Heavy Metal, but it was always so damned hard to find here in bible thumpin country.
